Gardening & Cooking in Primary Schools Programme available to all primary schools across Palmerston North and district. We help establish vegetable gardens, plant fruit trees and cook tasty food in three or more practical sessions over a school term.

What services do we offer your school:

  • We come to your school by invitation, and with you, plan a programme to meet your gardening and cooking needs
  • We provide a team of volunteers to assist teachers and students to establish vegetable gardens, plant fruit trees and cook tasty food in three or more practical sessions over a school term
  • We ensure a low child-adult ratio so that your students have enjoyable and meaningful learning experiences
  • We supply all kitchen and gardening equipment
  • We locate community resources to support your school
  • We provide expert horticultural advice and guidance free of charge, and run workshops
  • We assist with applications for funding to support your gardens
  • We mentor your school for 6 months after the programme has finished, to ensure sustainability
